Bryan Fuller created the NBC television series Hannibal. The series is based on characters and elements from Thomas Harris’ novels Red Dragon (1981), Hannibal (1999), and Hannibal Rising (2006), and focuses on the relationship between FBI special investigator Will Graham (Hugh Dancy) and Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen), a forensic psychiatrist destined to become Graham’s most cunning enemy while also being the only person who can understand him.
Will Graham, an FBI profiler, is recruited by Jack Crawford, the FBI’s head of Behavioral Sciences, to assist in the investigation of a serial murderer in Minnesota. Crawford agrees to have Graham overseen by forensic psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lecter since the inquiry is weighing heavily on him.

Hannibal – Season 1 – Summary
Will Graham, a skilled criminal profiler with a rare capacity to sympathize with serial killers, joins the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) at the start of the season. Will’s extraordinary skill allows him to mentally rebuild crime scenes, allowing him to comprehend the motivations and reasoning processes of killers.
Dr. Hannibal Lecter is brought in as a consultant by Jack Crawford, the chief of the BAU, to assist Will in his job. Will is unaware that Hannibal is a very bright and manipulative psychopath who is captivated by Will’s skills and gets increasingly entangled in his life.

Will ultimately discovers Hannibal is the true killer in the season finale and confronts him. Hannibal is captured after a brutal and prolonged battle between the two. Will, on the other hand, is arrested and charged with Hannibal’s crimes. The season concludes with Will’s imprisonment, leaving viewers on a cliffhanger and laying the framework for the events of the following seasons.
