Lupin is a French mystery thriller series inspired by the adventures of Arsène Lupin, the gentleman thief created by Maurice Leblanc. The show follows Assane Diop, a Senegalese immigrant in Paris who is inspired by Lupin’s stories to avenge his father’s wrongful imprisonment and death. Assane uses his charm, intelligence, and mastery of disguise to expose the wealthy and powerful Hubert Pellegrini, the man responsible for framing his father.
Assane’s father, Babakar, was accused of stealing a valuable diamond necklace from the Pellegrini family and died in prison. Years later, Assane meticulously plans heists to uncover the truth and bring justice to his father’s name. His schemes involve elaborate tricks, social engineering, and deep knowledge of Lupin’s stories. Along the way, he reconnects with his estranged wife Claire and their son Raoul, trying to protect them from danger.
The series blends modern-day Paris with classic heist elements, keeping viewers on edge with twists and suspense. Assane’s daring escapes and clever manipulations make him a likable antihero. The police, led by Detective Youssef Guedira, slowly piece together his identity while being outsmarted at every turn.
