A criminal mastermind known only as “The Professor” recruits eight thieves, each named after a major city, for the biggest heist in history. Their target is the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid. Under his meticulous planning from a remote hideout, the group takes sixty-seven people hostage inside the Mint. The Professor’s grand plan isn’t just to print billions of untraceable euros but to execute the perfect heist without a single drop of blood being spilled.
Inside the Mint, the thieves, led by the strategic Tokyo and the rugged Berlin, work to maintain control while printing the money. They must manage the hostages, including the crucial mint director, and handle rising internal tensions within their own group. On the outside, The Professor manipulates the police investigation led by Inspector Raquel Murillo. He begins a calculated and intimate relationship with her, gathering critical intelligence on the police’s every move. This dangerous cat-and-mouse game is the true heart of the heist, as The Professor must stay one step ahead to protect his team. His philosophical debates about the system and capitalism add a deeper layer to the crime thriller.
The situation escalates as external pressures mount. A ruthless SWAT team assault and the tragic death of a young hostage, Mónica Gaztambide, threaten The Professor’s bloodless promise. Internal betrayals and romantic entanglements, particularly between Tokyo and the former policeman Denver, further complicate the mission. The team is pushed to its absolute limit, forcing them to adapt their plan on the fly to survive.
The season culminates in a daring and unexpected escape. Using a tunnel they secretly dug and a massive diversion, the team flees the Mint with the money, leaving the police bewildered. While they achieve their primary goal, the finale sets the stage for future conflict. Inspector Murillo, having discovered The Professor’s true identity, is now personally invested in hunting him down, ensuring their story is far from over.
