Game of Thrones – Season 7 – Summary
Daenerys Targaryen arrives at Dragonstone, her ancestral home, and prepares to wage war for the Iron Throne. Jon Snow, now King in the North, receives a summons from her but is hesitant to leave Winterfell as he focuses on the threat of the White Walkers. Meanwhile, Cersei Lannister consolidates power in King’s Landing, forging alliances to defend against Daenerys’ invasion. Arya Stark, disguised as Walder Frey, exacts revenge for the Red Wedding by poisoning the remaining Freys before heading south to reunite with her family.
Samwell Tarly, studying at the Citadel, discovers a hidden cache of dragonglass beneath Dragonstone—a key weapon against the undead. He sends word to Jon, who decides to meet Daenerys despite Sansa’s warnings. At sea, Euron Greyjoy attacks Yara’s fleet, capturing Ellaria Sand and killing two of the Sand Snakes in a brutal ambush. Theon, overcome with fear, abandons his sister and jumps into the sea.
Jon arrives at Dragonstone and tries to convince Daenerys of the greater threat beyond the Wall. Though skeptical, she allows him to mine the dragonglass. In Winterfell, Sansa struggles to maintain control as Littlefinger sows discord. Bran returns home, now the Three-Eyed Raven, but his detached demeanor unsettles those around him. Meanwhile, Arya reunites with Nymeria but chooses to let her direwolf go before continuing her journey.
Daenerys launches an attack on the Lannister forces, using her Dothraki and Drogon to devastating effect. Jaime narrowly escapes death when Bronn rescues him from Drogon’s flames. In retaliation, Cersei conspires with Qyburn to create a weapon capable of killing dragons. Jon and his companions, including Jorah and the Hound, venture beyond the Wall to capture a wight as proof of the White Walker threat.
Trapped on a frozen lake, Jon’s group faces an army of the dead. After sending Gendry to run for help, Daenerys arrives with her dragons, saving most of the men—but the Night King kills Viserion with an ice spear. The reanimated dragon is later used to bring down the Wall at Eastwatch. Meanwhile, in King’s Landing, Jon and Daenerys present the captured wight to Cersei, hoping for a truce. Though initially dismissive, Cersei agrees to a temporary alliance—but secretly plots with Euron to betray them.
Back at Winterfell, Bran reveals Littlefinger’s treachery, leading to his execution by Arya. Jon and Daenerys grow closer aboard their ship, unaware they are aunt and nephew. As the season ends, the Wall collapses, and the Army of the Dead marches south, setting the stage for the final battle for Westeros.
