Game of Thrones – Season 8 – Summary
The final season of Game of Thrones begins with Daenerys Targaryen arriving at Winterfell with her armies and dragons. Jon Snow reunites with Bran and Arya, but tensions rise as the Northerners distrust Daenerys. Jon learns the truth about his parentage from Samwell Tarly—he is Aegon Targaryen, the true heir to the Iron Throne. Meanwhile, Cersei Lannister remains in King’s Landing, plotting with Euron Greyjoy and the Golden Company, refusing to aid in the fight against the dead.
The Night King and his army march toward Winterfell, leading to a massive battle. The living prepare their defenses, but the White Walkers overwhelm them. Many fall, including Theon Greyjoy, Jorah Mormont, and Lyanna Mormont. At the last moment, Arya Stark kills the Night King, destroying the army of the dead. The survivors mourn their losses, and Daenerys grows increasingly paranoid as her advisors question Jon’s claim to the throne.
Daenerys insists on marching south to take King’s Landing. Despite warnings from Tyrion and Varys, she attacks the city with Drogon, burning it to the ground. Innocent civilians perish, and Jaime and Cersei die in the ruins of the Red Keep. Horrified by her actions, Jon confronts Daenerys, who declares her intent to rule by fear. Tyrion is imprisoned for betraying her, and Jon, torn between love and duty, stabs Daenerys to death.
Drogon melts the Iron Throne and carries Daenerys’s body away. The surviving lords gather to decide the future of Westeros. Tyrion proposes Bran Stark as the new king, and the realm agrees. Sansa becomes Queen in the North, while Arya sets sail to explore unknown lands. Jon returns to the Night’s Watch, exiled for killing Daenerys. The series ends with a new beginning for the shattered kingdoms.
