Farzi is an Indian Hindi-language television series developed, produced, and directed by Raj & DK, who also co-wrote the series with Sita Menon and Suman Kumar. It stars Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, Kay Kay Menon, Raashii Khanna, and Bhuvan Arora and is about a disillusioned artist who chooses to create fake money.
Farzi, which began as a feature in 2014, was extended into a television series by 2019. In July 2021, principal shooting started in Mumbai. Alibaug, Goa, Nepal, and Jordan were also locations for filming. The tracks were written by Sachin-Jigar and Tanishk Bagchi, with music by Ketan Sodha. The series is linked to Raj and DK’s espionage serial The Family Man.
The eight-part series premiered on Amazon Prime Video on February 10, 2023. Farzi got favourable feedback and quickly became the most-watched Indian streaming series. Kapoor stated that the programme would return for a second season by the end of February 2023.
Sunny, an artist disillusioned by India’s income disparity after failing to keep his grandfather’s innovative printing press running, is the protagonist of Farzi. He chooses to create counterfeit money with his closest buddy Firoz. They are challenged by criminal Mansoor and policeman Michael.
The term Farzi (which means “fake”), according to co-creator Raj Nidimoru, alludes to counterfeiting as well as the “fakeness” ingrained in individuals.
